A woman complained that the Division of Public Assistance (DPA) had not distributed her child support pass-through payments for two successive months. The Ombudsman contacted DPA management and the Child Support Services Division (CSSD) Complaint Resolution Office staff regarding the complaint issue and to determine the status of the complainant’s child support pass-through payments for the months of April and May. The Ombudsman learned that CSSD had accurately reported child support payments to the DPA computer interface. There was then a problem when DPA incorrectly coded the complainant’s cash benefit payment for the month of April, which prevented the system from issuing the April pass-through payment and subsequently the May payment. The Ombudsman’s inquiry alerted DPA to a problem with their system, which they proceeded to fix. DPA then released the two months of pass-through payments to the complainant. (A2017-0728)
